Spurgeon on preaching the Word

‎”The preacher must make his sermons cut. Our sickle is made on purpose to cut. The Gospel is intended to wound the conscience and go right through to the heart, with the design of separating the soul from sin and self, as the corn is divided from the soil.”

Same-sex marriage for 50+ years?

Today for Bible college I completed a paper on sex and other addiction within the gay and lesbian community.  The research that I read documenting addictions was phenomenal and it revealed some very interesting trends, including above-average drug addiction particularly among the lesbian community.  Another interesting finding was that lesbians are as promiscuous as gay men and they can even be highly promiscuous with men.

… substance abuse is primarily about suffocating the feelings of shame that are associated with gay sex.  While this is largely to do with social attitudes towards homosexuality, it can also be said that what took gay people to homosexuality in the first place was brokenness. Their sexual behaviour in fact reinforces those feelings, but in order to cover them up, more sex and substance abuse is used (which then reinforces the negative feelings).  It is an endless cycle.

I have also written a paper on pastoral ministry and shepherding, particularly in the context of pastoring people with same-sex attraction, for which I received a high distinction this week.   May these essays inform and bless their readers!

Recently there have been improvements in the public discussion of homosexuality, which you can have a look at here.  I have also come across resources on coming out of homosexuality recently that can help others.  Please check out these links to get a greater sense of what homosexuality is really about from a scientific, medical, and theological point of view.

Here’s the response of sexual healing ministry Living Waters to the article in the Herald 3 weeks ago…  The (mis)information provided in those articles about Living Waters is very troubling.  God willing, it will lead more and many to ministries like Living Waters and Liberty!

Pastors’ Conference on Homosexuality

On June 5, I will be presenting a Pastoral Journey on how to minister to people in churches with unwanted same-sex attraction.  If you are interested in coming, here is the information.  God bless!

Here is a beautiful Hebrew song about the city of Jerusalem…  The Bible describes her as being a city of unfathomable heavenly beauty, and as a Christian I find this song beautifully captures it.  I take my hat off to the Yemeni Jewess who sang it, the late Ofra Haza.  She had a beautiful voice-

Here are the lyrics.
